— Best Events — Draguignan, Var —

A château wedding in the south of France, with dinner cooked in the grounds.

8 châteaux and 6 wine estates that carry the name château, across the Var, Provence and the Hautes-Alpes. Best Events cooks at the venue, serves your guests and coordinates the day, with one contact from the first call.

Chapter I · The short answer

For a couple from abroad who cannot marry at a town hall in France, a château wedding means a legal wedding at home, then a symbolic ceremony and a celebration at the château. With Best Events, the château is one of our partner venues, part of the same budget as the food, the service and the coordination.

That budget starts at €60,000 including VAT, for about 80 guests. Among our partner venues are 8 châteaux and 16 wine estates, 6 of which also carry the name château.

Below are the châteaux by type, with their capacity and what they offer, then what to weigh before choosing one.

Chapter II · Châteaux and wine estates

Capacities and features come from each venue's own listing. Availability depends on your date: ask on your discovery call.

Châteaux

From intimate houses to estates for several hundred guests, each with outdoor space for the ceremony and the dinner.

Wine-estate châteaux

Working wine estates that carry the name château, among them Château de Saint Martin, a cru classé estate in Taradeau.

Vineyard weddings

Wine estates that do not carry the name château, most of them set among vineyards.

Chapter III · What to weigh before choosing a château

The size of the house

The châteaux run from Château Clarettes, for up to 90 guests, to Château de Ventavon, for up to 500. Your guest count narrows the list first.

Guests who stay

12 of the châteaux and wine estates on this page offer accommodation on site, so your guests can stay for the whole weekend.

Vines or not

Of the châteaux, Château Clarettes, Château de la Cheylane, Château de Taradel and Château de Valbourgès sit among vineyards.

The sea nearby

Château de la Mère, in Sainte-Maxime, is close to the sea: a château wedding without leaving the coast.

Your own wines

Bring the wines you love, whichever château you choose: we open them, serve them and charge no corkage fee.

Chapter IV · Dinner cooked in the château grounds

At a château, the kitchen is the first question. Our chefs set up a kitchen on site and cook your dinner there; nothing is driven in from a central kitchen and reheated.

You choose from three house menus: Braséro, Perfect Wedding and Signature. One server looks after every fifteen guests, for seven to ten hours depending on the menu, so you can stay at your table.

Coordination is part of the budget: our fee is 10% of the total, and one contact deals with the château, the florist and the DJ. The wedding day hour by hour and the full budget are on our main page.

Chapter V · Questions about château weddings

How much does a château wedding in the south of France cost?

With Best Events, a turnkey château wedding starts at €60,000 including VAT, for about 80 guests: the château, food cooked on site, service, furniture, coordination, DJ, flowers, photography and videography. Your quote gives the exact figure for your château and your date.

Can we get married legally in a French château?

A civil wedding in France takes place at the town hall of a town where one of you, or a parent, has their domicile or has lived there continuously for at least a month when the banns are published. At the château, you hold a symbolic ceremony in front of your guests.

Best Events can recommend an officiant for that ceremony and coordinate them, as an option.

How does the first step work?

A 30-minute discovery call with Robin Dubois, founder of Best Events, in English, by video, by phone or in person in Draguignan. You pick a time online and it is confirmed right away. A detailed quote follows within 24 business hours, and the price on it is the price you pay.

Can we taste the menu before we decide?

Yes. If you book a tasting, a chef cooks for the two of you for an hour and a half to two hours, in our kitchen in Draguignan, with your project manager. It costs €150 for two, deducted in full from your quote when you sign.

Do you work at châteaux that are not on this list?

Yes. The team works across the Var and the Alpes-Maritimes. If you already have a château in mind, tell us on your discovery call: we will say honestly whether our chefs can set up a kitchen there, and what it changes.
